Family Search is quickly approaching the official introduction of Family Tree, an update and eventual replacement for new.family search.org.  The development of Family Tree was driven by the desire to create a world class family tree application as well as a user friendly tool for clearing names for temple work.  Engineers have taken the best of what new.family search.org provided and added to it powerful tools for data accuracy, usability and collaboration.

You can register to use Family Tree at http://familysearch.org/invite/familytree_tab.   ( That is underscore tab)   After you register go to http://www.familytree.org and sign in.  New family search will end at the first part of 2013.  By then you will need to switch over to Family Tree which will contain the same genealogy information you have in new family search.  Family Tree needs to be genealogically sound.  You may change and correct data but you need to include a reason and/or a source for the change.  You can access family search.org/tree training to view training videos to see how Family Tree functions.  It is very similar to the old program but with new and exciting changes such as removing incorrect data.

Family history can be a life changing experience.  Learning about your ancestors can bring perspective and understand to your own life.  If you would like help, would like to join a family history class during Sunday School time, or as a Relief Society activity meeting, or have questions, please contact Colleen Clay, ward consultant, at 801-782-8226.  We just finished up a class and are ready to start a new one.
