Violet
Holland was born in Wellsville, Utah and spent her childhood living several places in
Idaho and Utah, as her father was a school teacher and Principle and they had
to move each summer between school years.
She always wanted to stay in one place and not move so much! She met Howard Cottrell in a Sunday school
class he was teaching when he got home from his mission. They were married in 1942, and he spent 4
years away in France during WWII. They have 6 children: Joy, Faye, Howard,
Julie, Tamara and Arnold. Howard passed away in 1981. When she turned 90 she had 32 grandchildren,
69 great-grandchildren and a few more since then. They moved to North Ogden
approximately 65 years ago and she has been in the 3rd ward since it
was created. Howard was a bishop here
for 6 years. Violet worked as an aide in
the Physically Handicapped Department at Wahlquist and Roy High. She also taught seminary to the group. She served several years at the Ogden Temple.
Julie Allred
was raised in the house next door to where she
now lives. She married Mark Allred In
1978. Between them they have 6 Children:
Chad, Rob, Tyson, Monica, Danielle and Clint.
They have 12 grandchildren with one due in December and 2 great-grandchildren. Mark and Julie own a business that Manufactures
product for performance horses, and have been able to travel quite a bit for
the business. In 1986 they bought he corner
lot from her parents and have lived there ever since. Violet moved into the apartment they made for
her in their home about 22 years ago.
It’s been a pleasure having her here with us. She has just moved into Emeritus Estates and
would be glad to have company.
